Novel Coaching To Address Bleeding Vocal Cords

What are bleeding vocal cords? They are vocal cords, which begin to bleed following a strain, overuse or acute trauma to the cords, due to viruses, or infection. Typical signs and symptoms can occur quickly and may include sudden voice loss, hoarseness, pain or discomfort when speaking, or a breathy, rough, or strained voice. Although traditional medical advice can involve periods of vocal silence, steroid injections or surgery, anyone with a voicebox or larynx issues are increasingly turning to alternative, natural and stress-free remedies.

One such method is Vocal Science™ which provides a specialized type of voice coaching, one that transcends into what is known as voice rebuilding and not necessarily speech therapy. This approach is grounded in a whole body understanding of the voice as not only an acoustical phenomenon but as a full system that includes posture, breath, and internal body architecture.

The secret is taking the strain off the vocal cords, and shifting production of the voice higher in the face and head, away from the throat. Clients are trained on how to phonate with bowing vocal fold tissue (right) to avoid additional trauma to irritated or bleeding vocal cords. In addition to the sounds, body-work elements are used in combination with the voice, in order to reduce muscle tension and provide a more stable voice as a result:

This different therapeutic approach is highly beneficial as it is non-drug based, non-surgical and produces no adverse effects. Instead, it provides a method for people to become an active participant in their own vocal health through knowledge, technique and daily work. Some of my clients tell me that they have been living with their symptoms for years, even decades, and yet they see significant changes in just days of intensive hands-on training.

Testimonials spotlight success stories from singers, public speakers, teachers, and even those who were advised their only answer was surgery. They didn’t, but it is what they were doing – clearly and with strength and power – in their voices they didn’t realise!

For sufferers of bleeding vocal cords, those searching for a non-invasive way to treat them, here is an alternative treatment for bleeding vocal cords with unique coaching for them, known as the Vocal Science™ method. Its unique combination of science, refinement and natural positioning deliver the strength which is required for ultimate vocal recovery.
